script

This is a page from the scrip from the ring. As a director, I found this extract particularly interesting because in the idea of the threat has been introduced in the previous conversation, so the seed has already been implanted in the audience's minds that something bad is going to happen, but because the two girls are having the conversation in such a nonchalant way, and just laugh over the idea of the threat, this makes the audience even more uneasy, because we are expecting something to happen, whereas the characters are utterly oblivious and not expecting anything, which makes them an easy target and vulnerable. I think this is a very powerful thing to do, because it immediately instills fear in the audience, and after seeing how they have done this, I will try to create this effect in a similar way, because it's a sure way to scare the audience through the dialogue. 1. Merry- Looking at this script was really useful for me as it reassured me that it is possible to introduce a threat into a normal 'everyday' environment. It has also made me realise that it is not completely my job to make the film 'scary'- the tension should be built through the script too. I liked the way that even reading the script I could feel the tension building, as quite a lot of this scene does not have any dialogue and the actors themselves would instill fear into the scene. This will help our group because our first 2 minutes in the film have no dialogue.
